It was real, it was fun, but it was NOT real fun!

TGIH!  Thank God I’m Home!

So I should start off by saying that anytime you go on vacation, it is a good thing.  Everyone needs time away from their normal day-to-day and just relax in another environment!  But, the title of this post is how I felt about Branson, MO after we spent the last week there on our family vacation.  Why did you go to Branson is probably the first question that enters you mind?  Well, we have a vacation club Dad and I joined several years ago and while searching for destinations we could drive to close to our home in Iowa, this was an option.

My first impression of Branson was that I didn’t realize how religious the area was until our approach on the highway as we saw so many “in your face” billboards and this over arching theme of “Jesus is great” to shows there.  That’s certainly fine if that’s your thing, everyone can and should believe whatever they want.  However, I am just not used to having it shoved down my throat!

I also couldn’t believe how run down some of the hotels and buildings were on the strip and how they were knocking so many of them down.  Later, when a local told me that was all caused by a tornado in February, I felt bad.  Yikes!  While there was a lot to do on the strip as we went to Riley’s Believe It or Not, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and Mirror Maze.  I could not get over the cost of some of the things there.  $60 per adult to get into Silver Dollar City, really?  $40 for a 6 year old?  That just seemed outrageous to me!  This was not Disney World!  LOL.

We were all screaming because we couldn’t wait to leave Branson! LOL!

As you can tell from posts we did through out last week, we did have fun!  I guess I was just expecting a little more from Branson and it was not able to deliver.  Oh well!  We have now checked that off the list of things to do and can move on to bigger and better things!  ;-)
